Biography
Sarah Grundy is a Melbourne-based artist specialising in realistic portraiture and meaningful, colourful paintings. She is also a mum to a one-year-old, balancing the demands of parenting with her thriving art career.
One of Sarah’s earliest memories is her kindergarten teacher telling her mum that she had been sitting there painting all day. Not much changed in high school, where Sarah spent countless hours painting and creating. After school, she explored careers in teaching, psychology, and disability work, but art always drew her back.
In 2014, Sarah sold her first commissioned portrait while working full-time as a teacher. In 2015 she began her artistic career and has sold hundreds of custom portraits and expanded her practice to include portrait paintings, landscape paintings and indoor and outdoor murals.
Sarah's achievements include painting Hugh Van Cuylenburg for the Archibald Prize and having her painting Alfred Nicholas Gardens named a finalist in the Harden Art Prize in 2022. This year, she is excited to exhibit her work at Rudolfo’s in Ormond and continue connecting with people to create meaningful art.
